Jessica Chastain says starring in ‘The Huntsman: Winter’s War’ is her "childhood fantasy" come true.
The 39-year-old actress plays Sara, the Warrior in the movie, which is inspired by the characters from the Brothers Grimm fairytale ‘Snow White’ and as soon as she read the part she knew she had to win the role.
Chastain – who stars in the film alongside Charlize Theron as Ravenna, the Evil Queen – says her alter ego reminds her of Sorsha, a "redhead warrior goddess", from Ron Howard’s 1988 epic ‘Willow’, her favourite movie growing up.
Discussing her part in the new issue of PORTER magazine, she said: "I just thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s like my childhood fantasy to be in this movie.’ (And of course) I’m a huge fan of Charlize Theron."
Chastain sports a very different look as the leather-clad warrior woman – who is the long-believed dead wife of Chris Hemsworth’s character Eric, the Huntsman – and she admits it is always a compliment when people don’t recognise her from the roles she plays.
She said: "Someone said to me once (about a film) ‘You were in that?’ It makes me so happy … the exterior is defined by the interior – just stuff you’ve worked on already. I never start from the outside."
