Jermaine Pennant slams CBB

Jermaine Pennant has slammed ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ for almost destroying his marriage.
The 36-year-old former soccer star has been married to Alice Goodwin since 2014 and although when he appeared on ‘CBB’ last year, he was seen flirting with model Chloe Ayling, Jermaine says the show was at fault and not him.
He told The Sun Online: "I had no idea what was going on when I was in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
"In there I know how it is, but the way they edit it, it looks 100 per cent worse. They are showing five minutes of a 24 hour day. There were times when I never had a conversation with a girl.
"They don’t care. All they care about is ratings and having a good show. I regret the way things come out. We are working through so much, ‘CBB’ was the icing on the cake."
Alice also laid the blame for their marriage troubles squarely with ‘CBB’ but said in hindsight it proved helpful to them.
She said: "They don’t care how people look. That could have potentially broken our marriage. But we needed that."
Alice and Jermaine are currently undergoing therapy on ‘Celebs Go Dating’ and Alice believes it has saved their relationship.
She said: "We hadn’t done therapy, but this has been like it for us. I wish we had done it years ago.
"We have had to do tasks at home and homework. Some of the stuff we did on dates we have carried on. Just through their methods of working together; communication, forgiveness and trust we are working through."
Jermaine previously vowed to "pull out all the stops" to save his marriage after his antics on ‘CBB’.
He told BANG Showbiz at the time: "Well I’ve apologised for how it may look on the outside and if she’s been embarrassed and she’s upset and the family. So, I’ve apologised and she accepted it. So what we do now, is we move on and continue our lives. The way it came out – it looks worse then what it actually was in the inside so I have no idea how it seems on the outside and what backlash has came from it, so obviously she’s upset.
"A lot of people have put their 10 pence piece worth in and you know, making it worse. But it was innocent even though it didn’t look innocent so, nothing happened, it was just a little bit of flirting. You know, you’re in the house for 24 hours – as I keep saying and you know, half of the stuff you’ve seen wasn’t bad in there because you’re together a long time."
