Jeremy Renner to star with Hannibal Buress in Tag

Jeremy Renner and Hannibal Buress are attached to star in comedy ‘Tag’.
The ‘Avengers’ actor and the ‘Secret Life of Pets’ star are said to be in negotiations to join Ed Helms who worked on ‘The Hangover’ and ‘The Office’ in the New Line movie.
Renner, 46, and Buress, 34, will be part of the film’s core group of friends who have been playing a ‘no-holds-barred’ version of playground game tag for the last 30 years.
The film will be directed by This is Not Happening’s Jeff Tomsic from a script penned by Mark Steilen and Rob McKittrick which is based on a true story which was reported in The Wall Street Journal newspaper back in 2013.
The story, dubbed ‘Tag Brothers’, explored how 10 school friends from Gonzaga Preparatory School in Spokane revived the tag game 23 years later.
For anyone who is not familiar with the game, it starts of by tagging [touching] someone and that person becomes the ‘it’ player. The ‘it’ player then has to ‘tag’ another person in order to make them ‘it’ and the game keeps going.
These boys kept the game going by secretly entering each other’s homes and scheduling their holidays around the contest.
The game ends when everyone is finished playing and the person who is still ‘it’ is deemed the loser.
Todd Garner, Steilen and Sean Robins are producing the movie.
Renner recently had to pull out of ‘Mission: Impossible – 6’ due to a scheduling clash with ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
His last big screen role was in Oscar-nominated sci-fi flick ‘Arrival’ and he is set to hit screens this August in Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Wind River’ with the third ‘Avengers’ movie coming to cinemas next April.
Buress will next be seen in the ‘Baywatch’ movie and Marvel Cinematic Universe film ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
