Jeremy McConnell will fight Stephanie Davis for joint custody if her newborn baby turns out to be his.
The 26-year-old hunk is still waiting to find out whether three-week-old Caben-Albi belongs to him but he is adamant he won’t just fade into the background if the paternity test comes back in his favour as he wants to be a "hands on" father to the little one and do all he can to see him regularly.
Speaking to The Sun Online, he said: "If I am the father of Stephanie’s baby then I 100 per cent want joint custody. I am serious about being a good dad if the child is mine.
"If I need to go through the courts to get access to my son then so be it – I will take the necessary action to make sure I am a part of my son’s life."
The heavily-inked heartthrob – who currently resides in Dublin, Ireland – is also willing to fly to Liverpool, where Stephanie is based, "every weekend" if Caben-Albi is proven to be his child because he wants to make sure that he has a strong relationship with the little one.
Jeremy’s decision to push for a DNA test may come as a kick in a teeth for the 23-year-old actress as he spent the majority of her pregnancy denying that she was even expecting a baby.
But he has since claimed that Stephanie’s father planted the seed in his head because he rung him last year and begged him to split up with her and warned him that she may blackmail him.
He explained: "I never denied the baby was mine. I know it says that on a tweet but what happened there was her dad rang me. I don’t want to get too personal but her dad rang me – they were all for the break up. Her management and family said to end things with Steph.
"[Her dad] said to me personally, ‘Don’t fall for her emotional blackmail.’ When she got pregnant and I thought it was a connection to that – I wasn’t denying it. I was sceptical over the whole thing.
"Obviously it turned out, and I apologise, for certain things that I said and done but it was a stressful time. I said some things that maybe I shouldn’t have. It was tough for me."
Jeremy and Stephanie began dating after they met in the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house in January last year but their relationship came to an end in April following a series of blazing rows on holiday.
