Jennie McAlpine decided to go into the ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here’ jungle to inspire her son to be brave.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star – who has two-year-old son Albert – has to miss her son’s birthday to compete on the show and she admits she has "already cried" about it.
She said: "Not everybody’s mummy gets to do this and he’s going to have a brilliant birthday. Then we’ll celebrate it. We’ve been celebrating it basically for the last three months while I’ve been at home.
"I’ve already cried. I’m trying to remember that he’s having a lovely time without me. I’ve spent a full three years with him, he’s glad of the rest. Yeah, I was a bit emotional leaving him."
And Jennie insists she’ll be back to filming ‘Coronation Street’ when the reality show finishes.
She added to The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "I’m treating it as a holiday definitely, but maybe that’s a mistake. At the moment I can’t imagine my life without ‘Corrie’ really, so I don’t think I’ll be trying anything else."
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old actress previously revealed it took a lot of convincing to go in this year because of missing Albert’s birthday, which is on November 29.
She shared: "I had to really think about this because the biggest thing is leaving my little boy. Even the thought of it beforehand made me shudder. It’s going to be his birthday whilst I am in the jungle and I spend all my time with him when I am not working on ‘Coronation Street’. Leaving Albert when I first go into the camp will be my trial. It really will."
