Jennie McAlpine loves working with Coronation Street kids

Jennie McAlpine loves the chaos of working with kids on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 36-year-old star – who is mum to Albert, five, and 16-month-old Hilda in real life – doesn’t mind sharing the set with her co-stars Macy Alabi (Ruby) and Isabella Flanagan (Hope), even if "things go wrong" when it comes to acting with a dog and her on-screen children.
She told Inside Soap magazine: "There’s never a dull moment at home, or at work! But I love working with the kids – children are my favourite kind of company.
"At work, Isabella and Macy keep us on our toes – with two kids and a dog, sometimes things go wrong! But they’re always brilliant scenes to do."
Jennie’s character Fiz Stape and her on-screen husband Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) have had a tough time lately as their daughter Hope’s secret half-sister Jade Rowan (Lottie Henshall) made life very difficult.
Teaching assistant Jade was actually the daughter of Fiz’s serial killer ex John Stape (Graeme Hawley), meaning she was Hope’s half-sister while tutoring her.
Her behaviour became more erratic over her time on the cobbles, with the final straw coming as Lottie’s character kissed Tyrone after he gave her a bracelet for her birthday.
With Jade gone, Jennie suggested things could be looking up for Fiz, Tyrone and the girls – but she still teased the possibility of more drama in the future.
She added: "Well, I can tell you that we’ve been filming some fun scenes recently. But Jade’s not dead – she just walked off with her tail between her legs."
