Jennie McAlpine is pregnant

Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine is pregnant.

The 30-year-old actress – who plays Fiz Stape in the ITV soap – is expecting her first child with restaurant manager Chris Farr.

Jennie shared the happy news on Twitter earlier today (21.05.14), writing: "We have some news to share. Chris and I are expecting an addition to our family. Very happy x (sic)"

Many of Jennie’s ‘Corrie’ co-stars shared in her baby joy, with departing star Michelle Keegan – who plays Tina McIntyre – leading the well wishes.

She tweeted: "@jenniemcalpine arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh JEN!!!!!! SO SO excited for u!! Congratulations! Amazing news!!!!!! Xxx (sic)"

Fellow ‘Corrie’ parent Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt), who has two children with fiancée Lauren Shippey, added: "@jenniemcalpine knew it! Well done! X (sic)"

Soap newcomer Tisha Drew Merry (Steph Britton) wrote: "@jenniemcalpine yeyyyyyyy!!!! Congrats jen!! Xx (sic)"

Jennie has been dating Chris since 2005 and the couple even opened a restaurant together in 2012.

The fiery-haired actress has been at the centre of a dramatic plot in ‘Corrie’ as Fiz and Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) recently discovered that Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie) is the person behind a series of malicious texts, which they feared were from Tyrone’s abusive ex Kirsty Soames.
