Jason Sudeikis to star in Fletch Won?

Jason Sudeikis could be set to star in ‘Fletch Won’.

The 38-year-old actor has reportedly been offered the iconic role of Fletch in the first instalment of the Warner Bros. planned comedy franchise, which will be based on the novels written by Gregory McDonald.

Sudeikis would play the part of an investigative reporter named I.M. Fletcher who was made famous when acting legend Chevy Chase portrayed him in the 1985 film ‘Fletch’ and it’s sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The remake is said to have been in development for quite a while now as Warner Bros. first secured the rights for the project in 2011.

David List – who represents the McDonald estate – worked with Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin and Michael Sugar on a draft of the script which has impressed the studio and the film’s producers and attracted the ‘Horrible Bosses’ star, who is now considering the starring role.

The studio are now looking for a director to helm the project – which producers hope will have a similar vibe to ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ or ‘Midnight Run’.

Sudeikis is set to begin work on romantic comedy ‘Tumbledown’ later this month and will reunite with Jason Bateman and Charlie Day on the big screen in November for ‘Horrible Bosses 2’.
