Jason Donovan is outraged his real father Terence Donovan was killed off in ‘Neighbours’.
The ‘Especially For You’ hitmaker turned his back on the long-running soap in 1989, while his dad remained on the show as veteran character Doug Willis – a role he played on and off for 25 years – until he dramatically met the end of his life in the fiery explosion at Lassiter’s hotel earlier this month.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ this morning (27.04.16), the handsome star – who played Scott Robinson in the programme – said: "My real dad got killed off in ‘Neighbours’ two weeks ago. That is outrageous. My father’s been in the show on and off for the last 25 years, so it has a sort of a Donovan legacy ‘Neighbours’ and it keeps going on."
Terence, 73, first joined the Australian show in 1990 but he was written out of the soap just four years later.
He then made a return in 2005 to mark Neighbours’ 20th anniversary before making another comeback two years ago when his alter-ego moved to Ramsay Street with his family.
Fans were left heartbroken two weeks ago when Terence’s lovable character died from horrific head injuries after the complex in Erinsborough collapsed in a jaw-dropping blast.
And Doug wasn’t the only beach resident to meet a fiery end as his grandson Josh Willis (Harley Bonner) also tragically lost his life in the mysterious blowout.
