Jasmine Armfield was sick "seven times" before her audition for ‘EastEnders’.
The 18-year-old actress – who is known for portraying school girl Bex Fowler in the long-running soap – may have been handed one of the show’s most difficult storylines this year as she has to depict her alter ego getting bullied by three vicious class mates but she has admitted there was a moment when she thought she didn’t have the role.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "It was the first audition I’d ever had, so I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know who the character was either, all I was told was that I needed to play the guitar so I assumed it was just for a cameo role. I thought it hadn’t gone very well, then a few days later I got the callback … On the day of my second audition I was really ill. I was sick seven times before I got there. On the way to meet the casting director I had to sit in the back of the car with a bucket!
"I ate some fish the night before which didn’t agree with me. My mum told me she didn’t think I should go to the callback but I was adamant. I had a good feeling about it. Three days later my agent called to say I’d got the part. I couldn’t stop screaming."
The brunette teenager joined the show two years ago and has already struck up a close bond with the cast but is particularly close to Shaheen Jafagholi and Tilly Keeper.
She explained when asked who she’s close to: "Shaheen Jafagholi [Shakil Kazemi] and Tilly Keeper [Louise Mitchell]. We’re a team on and off screen. We are the best of friends; we go for nights out together and I stay at both of their houses. We like to sit around and watch daytime TV – we love ‘This Morning’ and ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’."
