Janina Gavankar is being eyed to play the female lead opposite Ben Affleck in ‘Torrance’.
The 37-year-old actress – who starred in the comedy-drama ‘Blindspotting’ earlier this year – is close to agreeing a deal that would see her play Ben’s on-screen ex-wife in the Warner Bros. drama, according to Collider.
Ben, 46, will star as the coach of an inept high school basketball team in the Gavin O’Connor-directed movie, which is based on a script by Brad Ingelsby.
Gordon Gray, Jennifer Todd, Ravi Mehta and Gavin are set to serve as the film’s producers, while Madison Ainley, Mark Ciardi and Brad will be the executive producers.
Production on the movie is scheduled to begin later in October.
Meanwhile, Janina – who is a self-confessed gaming fanatic – previously admitted she could easily have worked in the tech industry if she "wasn’t such a weirdo artist".
She shared: "When you’re a geek about something it means you have an overwhelming love and obsession for some things. So to geek is to love.
"The things that I’ve always been interested in are more on the ‘nerdy’ side. Especially the way that I interact with them which is 110 per cent, fangirl vibrations at all times.
"Growing up I was a band geek, swing choir geek, theatre geek, drum corp. geek, all of that. Now, I’m a gamer, a tech geek and an involuntary early-adapter.
"I’m so enthralled by tech that I might have ended up in it if I wasn’t such a weirdo artist."
