Janet Street-Porter had only watched ‘Neighbours’ "a couple of times" before making a cameo on the show.
The 72-year-old TV presenter will make her debut on the Channel 5 soap later today (17.04.19), and admitted her acting stint on the Australian show was a "steep learning curve".
When asked on ‘Loose Women’ – on which she is a panellist – if she is a fan of the programme, she said: "’Neighbours’ … I’ve watched it a couple of times before.
"It was a bit of a steep learning curve."
The journalist was also delighted to be reunited with Colette Mann – who plays Sheila Canning on the show – on set because she had worked with her before on Australian TV, but admitted she forgot the actress’ name.
She said: "The actress who plays Sheila …
"People don’t know here that I worked in Australia in the 1980s.
"I hosted a daily TV show at seven o’clock every evening on one of the main channels, Channel 9.
"And the actress whose bag I nicked then, worked with me, so when I went on the set she went ‘Wow, I haven’t seen you in a few years!’
"And I kept thinking: ‘What’s her name? What’s her name?’ "
Before shooting her scenes, Janet was given a tour of the Erinsborough set by actor Stefan Dennis, whose character Paul Robinson has had five wives and eight weddings.
And the red-haired presenter – who has been married four times – thinks his character has trumped her by having even more nuptials than her.
When interviewing Stefan, she said: "I’ve been married four times and everyone makes a meal out of that! But your character, you’ve left me well behind."
Janet will be seen on Wednesday’s episode of ‘Neighbours’, which airs at 5.30pm on Channel 5.
