Jane Danson found it "quite eerie" returning to ‘Coronation Street’ following lockdown.
The 41-year-old star – who plays Leanne Battersby – and her on-screen sister Georgia Taylor (Toyah Battersby) were the first two stars back on the set following the enforced filming break, due to the coronavirus pandemic, but she was pleased to resume filming with her best pal.
She said: "Myself and Georgia, we were the first people back through the doors.
"It felt quite eerie because there was literally nobody else there.
"But it was also really comforting that I was going back through those doors with my best friend.
"It was a sense of normality, but it was kind of a new normal, if you like."
‘Corrie’ stars resumed filming on Tuesday (09.06.20), but any shooting has to be socially-distanced, meaning the cast and crew have to keep two metres apart.
Jane thought it was "a joke at first" when she heard production staff would carry around two-metre sticks – but she has since found out it is not.
She said: "We thought it was a joke at first. It’s not.
"Actually, it does remind you what two metres is.
"I’m guilty of this myself, I think that I’m two metres away from someone but when you see the pole you realise that actually two metres is quite some distance."
Cobbles actors need to do their own hair and make-up upon their return, but Jane has had help with her tresses during lockdown as her husband, Robert Beck, has become a "dab hand" with hair colour after doing her roots twice, and he has cut their kids’ locks.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, she added: "He did them yesterday actually.
"He didn’t just do a buzz cut, he did a proper grade with a nice finish. He’s developed a new skill."
