Jane Cox studying reflexology after leaving ‘Emmerdale’.
The 67-year-old actress – who recently left the soap after playing Lisa Dingle for over two decades – has revealed she is on a course for the alternative health therapy, which has been defined as "gentle manipulation or pressing on certain parts of the foot to produce an effect elsewhere in the body".
She told Inside Soap magazine: "Well, I wanted to slow down a bit, and I’m currently doing a course in reflexology.
"I’m available for acting roles, but at the moment I’m just chilling – which is a luxury for me."
Jane – who first appeared on the show in 1996 – admitted he watched her character’s on-screen death on her own, and both she and her husband were moved to tears by her exit storyline as Lisa died of a terminal heart condition.
She said: "When the very last episode was on I was down in London doing some new publicity shots, so I sat there watching all by myself!
"I’d seen some of the earlier bits with my husband and we were both in tears. It sounds pathetic to be moved by oneself, but it’s a human story."
Although Jane is relishing the chance to relax after departing ‘Emmerdale’, she has admitted she is excited to try her hand at other opportunities after pondering her future following her own mother’s death.
She previously explained: "My mum died a couple of years ago, so it does make you think a lot about the big things in life. As you get older life feels shorter – although of course I am going to live to 150."
