Jamie Lee Curtis will celebrate her 60th birthday with a "very needed break".
The ‘Halloween’ actress reaches the milestone age on November 22, but has said she isn’t planning on making a big deal out of the special day, as she’s determined to "turn off" her social media accounts and celebrate "quietly".
Asked how she plans on ringing in her 60th birthday, she said: "I will do it so quietly you won’t even notice it. I will be turning off all of my social media. I’m going to take a very needed break."
Jamie’s birthday falls on the same day as the American holiday of Thanksgiving this year, and so the star will be celebrating with her family – including children Annie, 31, and Thomas, 22, whom she has with husband Christopher Guest – and giving thanks to her mother for "bringing her here".
Speaking to Notebook magazine, she said: "I will be with my family. My birthday falls on Thanksgiving. In America it’s a fairly big holiday, and it’s not ironic to me at all that the greatest day of thanks in our culture is going to be on the 60th anniversary of my birth. I will be giving thanks to my mother for bringing me here and my father for the small part he had in it. You know, it was a moment! And thanks to my husband and children and family and friends who will be with me. And the movies won’t factor. Well, I’ll give thanks for my work, but really it will just be me being thankful to be alive."
Meanwhile, despite being comfortable with getting older, Jamie recently revealed she will no longer look in mirrors because she doesn’t like to be "confronted" with how her body has changed over the years.
She said: "I don’t look in the mirror. I am not going to look the same as I used to, and I don’t want to be confronted every day.
"When I get out of the shower, I have a choice: I can dry myself off looking in the mirror, or I can dry off with my back to it. I turn my back to the mirror, and I feel great."
