James Corden was given a coffee enema at a Los Angeles clinic.
The 39-year-old TV presenter has revealed he was left squirming after being convinced by his pregnant wife Julia to undergo the bizarre treatment, which started with James receiving a massage and then being offered a coffee.
He explained: "I went into this treatment room. They poured oils on my head which was amazing. Then gave me a massage, which was incredible.
"Then they said, ‘right it is time for you to have a coffee’. I was like, ‘great, I am an almond milk guy’. But they were like, ‘no, no, we are going to pour five cups of coffee in your ass’."
The treatment is supposed to boost immunity and increase energy – but James said he didn’t feel any of the supposed health benefits of the unusual process.
Asked what he made of the surreal experience, James told the Daily Star newspaper: "Not great. I will be honest. I have had better coffees."
James presents ‘The Late Late Show’ from a studio in Los Angeles and the Tony Award-winning star recently splashed out as much as £7.24 million on a new mansion in the sun-kissed city.
James and Julia have settled in to Los Angeles, but the star has previously admitted there are times when they miss England.
James – who has a son called Max, six, and a daughter called Carey, three, with his wife – said: "We have bouts of homesickness. But I’ve got this little box that connects to your TV so I can always watch ‘Match Of The Day’ on a Sunday afternoon here. I find that incredibly comfortable.
"[But] the great thing is I’m at home every day. There’s no sort of sense of going off and leaving my family to film something, which I’m very, very grateful for."
