James Bye has named his ‘EastEnders’ co-stars Lacey Turner and Davood Ghadami as godparents to his son Hugo.
The Martin Fowler actor and his wife Victoria asked his on-screen ex Lacey – who plays Stacey Fowler – and pal Davood, who stars as Kush Kazemi, to take on the godmother and godfather roles for their 12-month-old boy.
He said: "I have worked with them pretty much every day for more than five years and we socialise a lot outside of work, too.
"We’ve grown so close, to the point where I would call them family rather than friends. As soon as Hugo was born, I knew straight away that I wanted to ask them and we are eternally grateful that they accepted.
"We don’t take it lightly and we know they’ll watch over him."
The couple had Hugo christened last month, just two days after he turned one.
James admitted the youngster was a "fantastic sleeper" during his early days, but he has been keeping the pair up recently.
Speaking to OK! magazine, he added: "He has been a fantastic sleeper from an early age but at the moment, he’s not in a great sleeping phase, he lets you know when he has woken up in the night and wakes the whole house up!"
Last April, James admitted he was keen to renew his wedding vows to wife Victoria – who he married in 2012 – after welcoming their third child.
He said: "Yes, it would be lovely to have our children around us and for them to see us say: ‘You’re still the one.’ "
