James Buckley would "never" let his kids watch ‘The Inbetweeners’.
The 31-year-old actor played foul-mouthed Jay Cartwright in the E4 series, and as a result of his alter-ego’s crude antics he doesn’t want his and wife Clair Meek’s children, Harrison, seven, and Jude, five, to ever see the comedy show.
He said: "I would never let them watch ‘The Inbetweeners’.
"It’s different for me as I’m supposed to be their dad. I don’t want them to see me behaving in that way. I already have very little respect from them to begin with and I don’t want to lose it completely."
James also doesn’t believe ‘The Inbetweeners’ – which aired from 2008 to 2010, and spawned two movies – would be made nowadays, because people would be too "offended" by the show’s jokes.
He said: "I think it would be really difficult. It’s a bit of a shame to say that. I think it seems to be cool and trendy to be offended by things."
The ‘Zapped’ star believes such an attitude is "killing comedy".
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he added: "It’s a shame. It’s sort of killing comedy. You can’t joke about anything.
"Nobody means it, it’s just a flippant comment or a joke."
James is set to reunite with his co-stars Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas for a special one-off comeback show, which will be the first time the four stars have appeared on the small screen together since the sitcom’s final episode, ‘The Camping Trip’ in 2010.
Tom Beck, Channel 4’s head of live events and commissioning editor for entertainment, said: "Will, Jay, Simon and Neil spent years failing to sneak into the best parties, so I’m very pleased to throw one that they’re definitely invited to.
"I just hope Will brings his Mum."
