James Arthur wants to be a judge on ‘The X Factor’ later this year.
The ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ hitmaker shot to fame back in 2012 when he was crowned the winner of the singing competition and, although he was dramatically dropped from Simon Cowell’s record label Syco in 2014 following a series of controversies and then resigned in 2016, he’d jump at the chance to return to the programme and sit alongside the 58-year-old music mogul on the judging panel.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s bizarre column, the 30-year-old singer believes being a mentor on the show would be "a lot of fun" but he may be a bit too "critical."
He added: "I could add some value for sure but I’d maybe be a bit too harsh and critical. I’d definitely be on the lookout for the ‘X Factor’.
"There’s a lot of people and talent out there and not much money or management. As long as there’s platforms like X Factor they’ve got a chance. It’s good to watch."
And James may be in luck as Simon is on the hunt for three new judges to join his panel after Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger turned their backs on the show.
It’s believed Robbie Williams – who is good friends with Simon, his girlfriend Lauren Silverman and their four-year-old son Eric – is currently involved in "secret negotiations" to join the show but he has admitted nothing has been signed as of yet.
The 44-year-old singer said recently: "There’s a lot of me that would love to do it too but there’s nothing there. Me and Simon and Lauren and the kids and little Eric hang out an awful lot and talk about a lot of things. Nothing’s signed but watch this space and I guarantee you will be the first people I speak to about it."
Britain’s Got Talent’s Alesha Dixon, Louis Tomlinson, Craig David, Kylie Minogue and Mariah Carey are also among those rumoured for a panellist position this year.
‘The X Factor’ will return to screens in the autumn.
