James Argent’s The Jump relieft

James ‘Arg’ Argent is relieved to be leaving ‘The Jump’ in one piece.

The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star has become the latest star to leave the competition after recording the lowest air jump and failing to impress during the earlier gruelling snow cross challenge but insisted finishing the competition without injury was a victory.

Speaking after recording a height of just 8.06m, he said: "Of course I’m disappointed but it was the first time I’ve ever gone from the top. At least I can say that I’ve done it and I’ve tried. I think my mum will be very pleased if I went home in one piece."

It’s not surprising that Arg and his mother are relieved at his lack of injuries, with a number of other celebrities leaving the competition on a stretcher.

Olympic bronze medal gymnast Beth Tweddle was forced to pull out of the Channel 4 show after crashing into a barrier while attempting the big jump and now her parents have revealed that Beth will require surgery on her back.

They said in a statement: "Yesterday Beth had a fall on the slopes whilst in training for The Jump.

"She is stable and due to undergo routine surgery on her back. Beth and the family would like to thank everyone for their good wishes.

"We will keep you updated on her progress."

Tina Hobley withdrew after injuring her arm in training while Rebecca Adlington is also out of the competition after dislocating her shoulder last week.
