Jake Wood loves fighting scenes with Scott Maslen

EastEnders’ Jake Wood loves shooting fighting scenes with his on-screen brother Scott Maslen.

The 48-year-old actor – who plays Max Branning – has been getting into scraps with the 49-year-old star (Jack Branning) on-screen for over a decade on the soap, and Jake has a lot of fun filming the epic brawls on the Square as it shows a real "sibling relationship".

He enthused: "We laugh a lot and hopefully that will come across in ‘Secrets From The Square’. The first couple of years, Max and Jack were fighting a lot. They were at loggerheads. Obviously Jack was with Tanya for a short time who was the love of Max’s life so that didn’t go down too well with Max.

"Every five minutes they seem to be throwing punches at each other at the Vic. They were just fun to do, these big epic fights. I think over the years the characters have just been there for each other. At their lowest points, they’ve been there to support each other no matter how much they fight. To me it seems like a very real sibling relationship."

Despite their on-screen rivalry, the pair have developed a bromance behind the scenes.

He added: "We have a really fun and silly relationship. We’ve been playing brothers for many years so in some ways we are like brothers. We tease each other a lot, take the mickey out of each other. So yeah a lot more light and laughter. Just us being us."

Jake has teased his upcoming storyline for Max when the show returns to TV screens, hinting that Max is up to his old tricks and terrorising the residents of Walford.

He spilled: "Max has got himself embroiled in a very unpleasant situation when we come back. It’s something completely different for him, it’s very surprising and unexpected.

"It has been really busy for me but it’s great stuff, they’re good scripts and true to form. I would say it’s definitely Max Branning doing what Max Branning does! The viewers will be pleased to see him back and getting up to his old shenanigans."
