Jake Wood adopts battery hens

Jake Wood has adopted some battery hen chickens – and named one of them after Piers Morgan.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor has taken in some follicly-challenged feathered friends, and while he and his family sadly lost one of the chicks yesterday (18.11.19), the others have been saved thanks to some quick thinking.
He said: "We’ve adopted some chickens, who are battery hen chickens.
"They don’t have many feathers because they’ve been living inside.
"We had a tragedy yesterday. We lost one of the chickens. The other two are not very well, so we’ve taken them indoors."
But, fortunately, Jake remembered he had a hairdryer in the shape of Piers’ face, called the Morgan 3000, which he could use to heat up the other hens.
He said: "They needed heating up so we used the Morgan 3000, and now they’ve both come back to life."
Piers added: "So I’m a miracle man."
And after the hair dryer worked wonders, the Albert Square star – who plays Max Branning on the BBC One soap – has named a chicken after the ‘Good Morning Britain’ co-host.
Speaking on ‘GMB’, he added: "That one is now called Piers."
Earlier this week, Jake teased ‘EastEnders’ fans that bosses have some "amazing" storylines lined up for the soap’s 35th anniversary next year.
He said: "We’ve obviously got Christmas coming up – and the 35th anniversary early next year.
"I think the fans will be delighted by that. It’ll be some of the best stuff that we’ll ever get a chance to shoot.
"I’ve seen some of the scripts coming up and they’re amazing. The show is in a very strong place at the moment and I’m really proud to be part of it."
Jake previously heaped praise on EastEnders’ senior executive producer Kate Oates, and the impact she’s had since joining the team.
He recently told BANG Showbiz: "Since Kate Oates has been there and [Jon Sen] … it’s a really strong team at the moment.
"We have got a great set of actors, production is great, writing is great, it’s in a really good place.
"It’s very strong."
