Jaden Smith cut down his social media usage after getting "criticised on a major level" for his posts.
The 20-year-old son of Hollywood stars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has been known for his bizarre tweets in the past, but has admitted he has stepped back from the platform recently after realising that with the level of attention his profile had, any "normal" tweet he made would be bombarded with hate messages.
He said: "It gets to a point where you have so many followers that you can’t really post things like a normal person without getting criticised on a major level on everything that you post. I’ve cut it down to a place where on Instagram I just don’t post unless there’s something really going on in my life."
Jaden also has a side account on Instagram called Lottavision – which he set up for his clothing line – where he now posts more personal stuff, and admits that the fear of criticism has stopped him from posting his classic weird tweets.
When asked by HuffPost if trolls have stopped him from tweeting, he added: "Yeah it has. That’s a big thing. Every once in a while I might go crazy on Twitter and say some crazy stuff, but that has changed my relationship with Twitter and social media."
The actor and musician may have cooled down on the bizarre tweets lately, but his mother Jada recently gave an insight into where he gets his weird ideas from, after she branded both her children – including 17-year-old daughter Willow – as "different".
She said: "Everything is changing but it is beautiful. But I must say, it’s taking some getting used to. Jaden and Willow have always been different. They were born that way. A lot of people think that it came from my rearing, but no, it just so happened that that’s how they came into the world and I had to get in order. I had to be open enough to receive it."
