Jacob Roberts expects no forgiveness in Munchausen’s plot

‘Hollyoaks’ Jacob Roberts doesn’t think Damon Kinsella will "forgive" Maxine Minniver when her lies are exposed.
The 29-year-old actor’s alter ego is convinced his bride-to-be (Nikki Sanderson) has just six months to live because she’s been battling a mystery illness, but she’s actually been faking her condition as she has Munchausen’s Syndrome – where sufferers feign illness or deliberately produces symptoms in themselves – and he doesn’t think it’s going to end well for the couple.
Asked how Damon will react when he finds out the truth, he said: "I think he’d be so embarrassed, as he’s been treated like a mug. I don’t think it would be forgivable. If he did forgive her, he would be even more of a mug.
"I think he’d be so angry and he’d just have to have it out with her. She’s manipulated other people, but not to the extent of Damon."
Meanwhile, Nikki has enjoyed the challenge of portraying the disorder.
She told DigitalSpy: "It’s been brilliant for me to be able to portray Munchausen’s, which is a disorder which hasn’t been approached before and not many people know much about it."
The 35-year-old star thinks it would be "exhausting" to spend so much time living a lie.
She said: "It must be exhausting. I could not imagine every single day of my life living a lie and it getting bigger and bigger and more tangled. I don’t know how she’s done it."
And if Maxine’s lies are exposed at the wedding next week, Nikki thinks her alter ego would be "horrified".
She said: "She would be horrified. I think that she would be massively upset for herself because at the moment, she is full of her own self-importance. She would be like: ‘Why is this happening to me?’
"She’d mainly be upset because she’d recognise that all of these people sat at that wedding love and adore her. They’ve done everything for her and they love and support her. She would feel terrible about how she’s treated everybody and the fallout with that."
