Jack Fowler battled a secret illness that left his legs and left arm "paralysed" earlier this year.
The ‘Love Island’ star suffered from the disease transverse myelitis – a neurological disorder that damages the spinal cord – which put him in a wheelchair for two to three weeks.
He told the Oxford Union: "Instagram, social media is absolutely fake. At the start of this year – no one knows this – I had something called transverse myelitis.
"I lost all movement in my legs and my left arm, paralysed, I was in a wheelchair for two or three weeks."
While doctors still don’t know what caused the inflammation, they do know the damage may result from viral infections or abnormal immune reactions.
The 24-year-old hunk didn’t want to disappoint his 1.3 million Instagram followers he gained since leaving the ITV2 dating show in 2018 and decided to keep his illness hidden.
He continued to post photos of his lavish lifestyle when he was secretly getting treatment.
Jack said: "On my Instagram I was having a wicked time, I was having a great time. I was in Dubai, I was in Thailand for all of the two weeks because that’s the ‘gram making it look like that.
"But realistically, I wasn’t – I was going through the hardest time of my life."
Jack has now made a full recovery and decided to speak out about the "fake" side to social media.
The star has recently launched his music career with his debut single ‘Back To Yours, and he revealed Drake was first offered the song but turned it down.
He said: "Hundreds of writers put songs in a pot for Drake to select.
"Back To Yours’ didn’t make his final cut so Simon brought it to me.
"I look up to artists like Drake, Justin Bieber and even old-school artists like Justin Timberlake."
