‘Poldark’ star Jack Farthing has taken one of his character’s outfits as a memento from the TV show.
The 33-year-old actor plays scheming George Warleggan in the period drama and ahead of the fifth and, for now, final series of the BBC One programme returning to screens at 9pm on Sunday night (14.07.19) he convinced bosses to let him keep an elaborate costume.
In an interview with Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on ‘This Morning’ on Friday (12.07.19), he said: "I did, for no good reason really, manage to persuade them to give me this full black tailcoat suit, which I’ll never wear."
Holly then suggested when Jack might be able to wear George’s elaborate outfit, saying: "Christmas Day? Why not? It’s quite Christmassy."
There is little for George to celebrate in the final series as his wife Elizabeth (Heida Reed) died from complications in child birth after she induced labour to deliver her daughter Ursula to prove it was George’s child and not Ross Poldark’s (Aidan Turner).
Jack admits it felt very strange to say goodbye to the show – which is based on the novels of the same name by Winston Graham – as it has had such a huge impact on his career and life.
He said: "I miss it already. It’s weird talking about it as the final series. It’s been an amazing five years for all of us."
Jack might be saying farewell to Cornwall and his alter ego George, but by a strange quirk he has just been working with his ‘Poldark’ co-star Eleanor Tomlinson – who plays Demelza Poldark – on another project.
He said: "We did. We just finished a film. By total coincidence, we did a Netflix comedy in Rome. The film ‘Love, Wedding, Repeat’ stars Eleanor, Sam Claflin and Olivia Munn, and follows three different versions of the same wedding day."
