‘It has its perks’: Kym Marsh advises Danny Dyer about grandparenthood at 43

Kym Marsh has advised Danny Dyer that being a grandparent aged 43 "definitely has its perks".

The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress became a grandmother aged 43 in May last year when her daughter Emilie Cunliffe gave birth to baby boy Teddy, and she has congratulated Dani Dyer on her pregnancy, and her dad, ‘EastEnders’ actor Danny, ahead of him becoming a grandfather for the first time.

She said: "Former ‘Love Island’ winner Dani Dyer has announced she is expecting her first child with partner Sammy Kimmence last week – meaning her father Danny Dyer is set to become a grandad at 43.

"Firstly, I’d like to congratulate the couple on the wonderful news.

"I became a grandparent at 43, too.

"I always knew my daughter Emilie would be a great mum and being a young grandparent definitely has its perks."

Kym – who played Michelle Connor in ‘Corrie’ – admitted she "doesn’t mind" when people say she looks "too young" to be a grandmother, and she loves having plenty of energy to run around after the little one.

Writing in her OK! magazine column, she added: "I have much more energy so I can run around after my grandson Teddy.

"I also don’t mind people thinking I look too young to be a grandparent. It’s certainly a compliment."

Prior to Teddy’s birth, Kym revealed she was going to be known as "Loli" to the little one instead of grandma.

And just days after the youngster was welcomed into the world, the soap star – who also has children David, 25, with ex-partner Dave Cunliffe, and nine-year-old daughter Polly with ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Jamie Lomas – admitted she was "so proud" of Emilie.

She wrote: "So I’m now officially Loli, which is what I’m being called instead of Grandma.

"I’ve been showing his picture to everyone at ‘Corrie’.

"I’m so in love with my grandson, he’s a little poppet.

"Emilie is now at home getting to grips with being a new mum and she’s been fantastic. She was a warrior during the birth; I’m so proud of her.

"They’re living with me and I feel so lucky to have the baby around. I get to cuddle him all the time."
