Isabel Hodgins felt a "huge responsibility" when ‘Emmerdale’ bosses told her Victoria Barton was going to be sexually assaulted.
The 25-year-old actress took to Twitter to thank the ITV soap’s supporters for their "kind messages" after her character’s harrowing plot played out in last night’s (08.05.19) flashback episode.
She tweeted: "Thank you for all your kind messages about tonight’s episode. When emmerdale told me I was doing this storyline I was like oh crumbs that is a huge responsibility!!! (sic)"
And Isabel is now hoping the hard-hitting storyline will help "at least one person".
She tweeted: "If this story helps at least one person I’ll be forever thankful (sic)"
The plot is part of Emmerdale’s Big Night Out series of episodes, which first aired a few weeks ago when several villagers went out clubbing for the night and a number of terrible incidents occurred.
Viewers have been unsure the exact details of the fateful night until this week when flashback episodes have revealed what went on.
The cast had to film night-time scenes in the early hours, but Isabel had "so much fun" shooting the clubbing scenes.
She wrote on Instagram: "These ladies Had so much fun on these night shoots with the best people. And now it’s nearly time for Victoria’s flash back of that night. (sic)"
On Tuesday night (07.05.19), the soap aired a double bill, and in one of the flashback episodes, Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) was left for dead by Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), Tracy Metalfe (Amy Walsh) and Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade) after it was revealed she has been grooming Leyla’s son Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) for weeks.
Following the ep, Louisa wrote on Instagram: "Blown away by all your amazing messages about tonight’s episode. Thank you. It was an epic intense cold and smelly experience made bearable by the best team and an owl. (sic)
