Meg LeFauve is set to direct Disney’s ‘Gigantic’.
The writer of Disney’s emotion filled hit ‘Inside Out’ will make her directorial debut when she takes control of the animated adaptation of classic fairy tale ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.
She will join the previously announced Nathan Greno as co-director.
‘Gigantic’ was first announced in August 2015 when Disney’s chief creative officer John Lasseter announced the project at the studio’s D23 Expo. Now, with a full directing team on board, the production will no doubt be in full swing very soon.
At the presentation last year, Nathan said: "We hope this will be the definitive version of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ … with comedy and deep emotion."
Meg had already been working on the screenplay for the movie when she was promoted to co-director, and it is unknown who will take over screenplay duties in the wake of the decision.
The movie is being produced by Dorothy McKim, and the score for the project will be penned by the masterminds behind the ‘Frozen’ soundtrack, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
The story is set in Spain during the Age of Exploration, and follows Jack (as yet uncast) as he discovers the world of giants hidden in the clouds. Jack then befriends Inma (also uncast), an 11-year-old female giant.
For Meg, the role comes after she has worked on the screenplays for a number of Disney movies including ‘The Good Dinosaur’, and has also been working on the team for the upcoming ‘Captain Marvel’ movie.
‘Gigantic’ is set for release on November 21 2018.
