Imran Adams quits Hollyoaks

Imran Adams has quit ‘Hollyoaks’.

The actor – who joined the Channel 4 soap as Mitchell Deveraux in February 2019 – is set to leave just weeks after his character gets married to Scott Drinkwell (Ross Adams).

A rep for the show told The Sun Online: "Imran Adams will be leaving ‘Hollyoaks’ later this year at the end of his current contract."

Soap insiders claimed the star is "happy to move on to new projects".

Earlier this year, Imran admitted he hoped his alter ego could have a happily-ever-after.

He previously said: "It’s been a whirlwind. This is the first time my feet have touched the ground, it’s happened so fast.

"The Deveraux family expanding, Mitchell and Scott’s relationship developing and evolving – it’s been a lot, and I’ve enjoyed it a lot.

"I think Mitchell has had a lot to deal with, but fingers crossed he can finally have his happy-ever-after – we’ll see!"

News of Imran’s planned departure comes after Rachel Adedeji decided to step away from the show to explore other opportunities after four years as Lisa Loveday.

Back in June, a spokeswoman said: "Rachel made the decision to leave ‘Hollyoaks’ to pursue other opportunities earlier last year which saddened us at ‘Hollyoaks’ as she is one of the leading cast members in the show."

A representative for Rachel revealed she "always" intended to move on with her career after a spell on the show.

Her spokesman added: "It had always been our intention for Rachel to leave the show after a period of time.

"She loved her time on ‘Hollyoaks’ and the exit storyline was openly discussed with the producers and her together, in a collaborative format."

News of her exit comes after the actress claimed she had experienced racism during her time on the programme.

Following Rachel’s comments, ‘Hollyoaks’ announced they are "investigating", and insisted they have "zero tolerance on racism".
