Impossible to replace Pointless over summer

‘Pointless’ will be replaced by ‘Impossible’ over the summer.
The hugely popular quiz show – hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman – typically takes a break each year, but it appears after the Wimbledon tennis tournament concludes it will be a while before it returns to screens.
As reported by the Daily Star, Rick Edwards’ own game show will replace it on the schedules at 5.15pm from July 14 – and the BBC has confirmed the decision has been made due to its growing popularity.
A spokeswoman said: "Following the popularity of the last three series of ‘Impossible’ in the early afternoons, we are looking forward to giving more viewers the chance to watch the hit quiz at 5.15pm on BBC One.
"’Impossible Celebrities’ is also due to air in peak later in the summer."
‘Pointless’ fans may be concerned at the rival show getting such a big opportunity, but a source confirmed the programme will still be back this autumn after its usual – albeit longer – break.
The insider said: "’Pointless’ often has a summer break, this year that break is going to be longer."
Although Armstrong also has a successful career as a singer, the star admitted last year he would love to take on a talk show with his co-star.
Speaking last year, he told the Daily Mirror: "I would love to do it. Maybe Richard and I could do it? I like the idea of getting guests on it as they arrive into London like [the late Terry] Wogan used to."
