Ijaz Rana has "never" celebrated a birthday.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actor – who plays Imran Maalik – turned 20 yesterday (15.04.20) and while he isn’t into having a big bash on the anniversary of his birth, he would love to see every character in the Channel 4 soap "involved with each other" in the show’s upcoming 25th anniversary.
He said: "Here’s a cool fact about me: I’ve never celebrated a birthday.
"I don’t really do celebrations. Maybe I’m just boring! But I think it would be cool to do a storyline where every character is involved with each other.
"For example, Imran has never worked with Mercedes. It doesn’t have to be a serious storyline, it could just be something like a huge dance-off with all the characters. That would be funny."
And Ijaz might fancy his chances if the dance-off became competitive, because he has been known to throw some shapes on screen in the past.
He said: "I didn’t used to dance in public before ‘Hollyoaks’, but we did an advert for Channel 4, and the director told me to just bust out some moves.
"So I let loose for 45 minutes, and since then I’ve had to dance quite a few times for the storyline."
Ijaz admitted he has learnt the most from his on-screen mum Harvey Virdi (Misbah Maalik), and gets "excited" when he works with her in a scene.
He added to Inside Soap magazine: "Every single day I come on to set and learn something new from Harvey.
"Just her manners on set is something I look up to, and something I want to achieve. I’m excited when I see that Harvey’s in a scene."
