Iggy Azalea is being sued for over $300,000 over an unpaid credit card bill.
The ‘Fancy’ singer is the subject of a lawsuit from American Express, who alleged in their filing at Los Angeles County Superior Court that the 27-year-old star owes $299,147.81 for goods and services she’s purchased over the last two years, documents obtained by The Blast show.
The Australian singer’s balance is $250,000 more than her card limit, and the lawsuit is seeking the full amount owed, as well as legal fees.
Iggy’s bill comes after she was hit by a $400,000 tax lien in 2016.
However, she claimed on Twitter the problem had arisen because she opted to pay her taxes monthly instead of paying one lump sum.
She posted: "Peep the way when one thing happens media scrambles to keep adding on to the storyline, like a soap opera.
"They exaggerate everything. the IRS gave the option to pay them monthly or lump sum. i picked monthly, who wouldn’t?"
The ‘Black Widow’ singer and her former fiance Nick Young – who split up in 2016 after the sportsman was unfaithful – recently sold the California home they once shared for $3.25 million, $200,000 less than they paid when they bought it from Selena Gomez in 2014.
After breaking up with Nick, Iggy downsized and recently insisted she is happier than ever with her more modest home.
She said: "I moved house and sold my cars, because now I live in a smaller house and I only have the one car garage and I don’t want to leave them out on the street.
"Now I just live in a regular three-bedroom house and have one car."
Iggy has most recently been working on a new album, ‘Digital Distortion’, which was due for release in June but has gone through a number of delays and currently has no new release scheduled.
