Iggy Azalea was forced to put her album on hold because her personal life "fell apart".
The 26-year-old rapper has admitted she "needed a lot of time" to deal with her split from her ex fiancé Nick Young, after she allegedly caught him having sex with another woman, which led her to delay the release of her LP ‘Digital Distortion’ for a year.
Speaking to PEOPLE about the track, which was set to be unveiled this year but had been pushed back to January next year, the blonde beauty said: "It’s no secret, I kind of had my personal life fall apart … I needed a lot of time.
"I mean, you wake up one morning and your fiancé is having a baby with someone else, you’re going to need some time, right?"
And the ‘Fancy’ hitmaker – who ended her relationship with the Los Angeles Lakers player in June this year after it was revealed his ex-partner Keonna Green was expecting a second child with Nick – has admitted she didn’t want the focus of interviews during the time of promoting her new tracks to be about her relationship.
She explained: "I don’t want to go and promote my album and get asked about my relationship that has just crumbled."
However, Iggy – whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly – has revealed her break-up has led her to change the direction of the album to suit her current relationship status.
Speaking about the songs on her album, she said: "I just kind of felt like, on top of me needing the personal time, then feeling, ‘Okay, I’m single now. I want to have sexy songs. I want to say stuff about being single’.
"I obviously didn’t write that on my [original] album because when I wrote it I was about to get married."
