Honey G singing Stayin’ Alive for X Factor disco week

Honey G will perform the ‘Stayin’ Alive’ as part of disco week on ‘The X Factor’.
In a week which has seen the rapper ‘killed off’ in hoax rumours she has chosen to cover the Bee Gees classic hit from the 1977 movie ‘Saturday Night Fever’ – which starred John Travolta as dancefloor lothario Tony Manero – in what can be interpreted as an ironic nod to the reports.
Honey G announced her song in a video message posted on her Twitter account and urged her fans to vote for her again this weekend and keep on track to win Simon Cowell’s talent show.
She said: "Yo, yo, yo this is Honey G. I’ve just come out of my vocal coaching … This weekend I’m going to be performing ‘Stayin’ Alive’ by the Bee Gees so make sure you get ready to vote for Honey G to win ‘The X Factor’."
Elsewhere, Saara Aalto will take on Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer’s ‘No More Tears (Enough is Enough)’ in a bid to avoid being in the bottom two again.
Emily Middlemas is to sing Rose Royce’s ‘Wishing on a Star’, whilst her boyfriend Ryan Lawrie will put his spin on Wild Cherry’s ‘Play that Funky Music’.
Sam Lavery once again takes on a karaoke favourite by picking Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’, and Matt Terry is lending his dulcet tones to girl group The Emotions’ ‘Best of My Love’ – which was written by Earth, Wind & Fire’s Maurice White and Al McKay and was a 1977 hit.
And Earth, Wind & Fire and The Emotions will feature on disco week for a second time when boy band 5 After Midnight – Kieran Alleyne, Jordan Lee and Nathan Lewis – cover their 1979 monster hit ‘Boogie Wonderland’.
However, the trio have endured a tough week as Kieran has been sick and had to have Wednesday (09.11.16) off from rehearsals for bed rest.
A tweet posted on the official 5 After Midnight Twitter account read: "Feel so sick today!! – Kieran."
‘The X Factor’ airs on Saturday night (12.11.16) at 8pm on ITV.
