Trevor A. Toussaint cried when he found out Imran Adams is leaving ‘Hollyoaks’.
The actor – who has played Walter Deveraux since 2018 – admitted he was devastated when he found out his on-screen grandson Imran had decided to leave the Channel 4 soap later this year and bid farewell to his character Mitchell Deveraux.
Trevor told Digital Spy: "When I found out he was leaving, I shed a tear. It’s very sad. We have worked and we do work very closely with each other, he is a fine young man and a brilliant actor.
"I think he’s got a huge, huge, huge career ahead and I think if he was staying at ‘Hollyoaks’, his character would grow and grow and grow.
"I shall miss him dearly. I love working with him. He is very focused on his character and he’s really grown that character."
Trevor heaped praise on his co-star and the work he’s put into his character, and pointed to the impact Mitchell’s coming out plot has had on viewers in a similar situation.
He added: "He loves that character, and I know he is immensely proud of the coming out story – he is incredibly proud of that.
"It has helped change lives and that is not a flippant statement – it really has.
"I have received fan mail about it as well and seen lots of posts from people stating that it helped give them the courage to come out.
"That is down to Imran’s performance and what he brings to Mitchell. It’s really sad and I will miss him."
No details have been revealed regarding his exit storyline, but a soap rep recently confirmed the news.
They said: "Imran Adams will be leaving ‘Hollyoaks’ later this year at the end of his current contract."
