Hollyoaks stars were ‘warned’ there would be ‘consequences’ in county lines plot

‘Hollyoaks’ stars were "warned" there would have to be "consequences" in their county lines plot.
The Channel 4 soap played out an impressive flash-forward episode over the festive period, which ambitiously zoomed forward 12 months to see a number of the young villagers in distress, and one person ends up in a body bag.
But Niamh Blackshaw, whose character Juliet Quinn is heavily involved in the hard-hitting plot, admitted she wasn’t too concerned she might have to leave the soap when she read the flash forward script for filming last year, because the events are a "future issue".
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "We kind of knew there was going to be consequences, because we were warned that we had to show there are consequences for what happened.
"So the body bag wasn’t a shock, but I feel who is in it might be.
"Whoever it is who ends up there you’ve got a whole year to develop into that point.
"When we read it we were all like, ‘That’s a future issue. That’s something to talk about in 10 months.’ "
But Niamh manages to detach herself from "emotional" ‘Hollyoaks’ plots by chilling out with some tunes on her long drive home, and "laughing and joking" with her co-stars.
She added: "There has been a lot of emotion the past few weeks, but I have a long drive home.
"My drive can be from 50 minutes to an hour-and-a-half, depending on traffic, and that’s a good time to listen to music and chill out and not think about it.
"But also the people I work with on set, even when you’re off a scene everything goes back to normal, everyone is laughing and joking and you can leave it there.
"I’ve got used to switching in and out. Especially because it’s five days in and I can chill on the weekend."
