Hollyoaks’ Nick Pickard is "really clumsy."
Gary Lucy thoroughly enjoyed acting out the fight scene between his alter-ego Luke Morgan and Nick’s character Tony Hutchinson, which will air next week, but he has admitted it was a struggle to keep on their feet because his co-star is so wobbly.
Speaking to the Radio Times Online, he said: "I love working with Nick, he is as clumsy as anything and we just always have so much fun when we film together. Because of his clumsiness, he ended up accidentally hurting me which made it even funnier!"
A fight erupts between the Luke and Tony after the alcoholic finds out that his old pal had shared a smooch with his girlfriend Mandy Richardson (Sarah Jayne Dunn), who used to be married to the restaurant owner, after they split up over his boozing.
Gary explained: "Diane [Tony’s wife] tells Luke that Mandy and Tony have kissed and he immediately sees red without understanding any of the circumstances. Luke waits for Tony to turn up at Nightingale’s restaurant and when he does, Luke just loses it and attacks him. I think that Mandy is Luke’s true love and it would be so nice for them to eventually get together and for Luke to be in a place where he is worthy of her love."
But Luke is set for even more turmoil over the next coming months as his rapist Mark Gibbs (played by Colin Parry) will also be making a return.
The show’s executive producer Bryan Kirkwood explained previously: "When one of our writers pitched the return of Mark Gibbs, you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. Everyone almost burst into tears with the idea of what that would mean to Luke.
"We will be seeing the return of Mark later this year. He was punished at the time, but he now looks like he’s got a lovely, charmed life. To Luke, who is still devastated and drinking himself into a stupor every night, that’s a bitter pill to swallow.
"They’re really heavyweight performances and episodes. It’s thrilling to be able to revisit the past in order to motivate Luke’s future."
