Hollyoaks’ Jude Monk McGowan loves the ‘knowingly camp’ Devil’s Dinner Party

Jude Monk McGowan loves Liam Donovan’s "overwrought and knowingly camp" revenge plot on ‘Hollyoaks’.
The actor has opened up on his alter ego’s Devil’s Dinner Party next week, which will see him lure Grace Black (Tamara Wall), James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) and Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) into The Dog and give the latter a chance to kill his estranged sister after revealing she and James were behind her shooting.
He said: "I love the use of all of the devil iconography, and the quite over-the-top set dressing.
"He’s very aware of the theatricality of it, of the gesture, but it’s all about striking fear into the people he wants to revenge over."
The soap star’s character has descended into madness in recent weeks, and Liam will have no regard for his guests’ safety.
He added: "There is no part of him that feels for Mercedes, or Grace, or even Maxine, because all of them have contributed to a loss for Liam, of either for the people he loves, or of relationships dying, be that with Eva, or with Jesse."
Meanwhile, Jude has also promised viewers will be more than satisfied by the "fitting" ending to the long-running plot.
He teased: "I really loved that it was Liam who breaks it to Mercedes that it was James and Grace that shot her, because he’s trying to use that to stimulate and to push Mercedes into doing something very dark."
The actor urged people to "tune in" as he praised his co-stars for their performances.
He said: "The viewers should tune in because I’m really proud of the work that all of us have done.
"I’m happy to be working with the actors I have the pleasure of working with. They have done really wonderful work, and it’s incredibly dramatic."
