Harvey Virdi admits her character will be "pulled into" the ‘Hollyoaks’ drugs storyline.
The actress – who first played Misbah Maalik on the Channel 4 soap in 2017 before leaving in June – has opened up on how her alter ego will become embroiled in the show’s County Lines plot when she returns to the village tonight (17.09.20) after a few months away.
She told Inside Soap magazine: "Misbah’s going to be making some new friends, and will be pulled into what’s happening with the young people.
"Misbah’s part of the community, everybody’s worried about what’s happening, and it becomes more obvious to everyone that their children are part of it – she’s going to be involved in that as she’s a doctor.
"Misbah’s going to have to deal with those consequences."
Misbah discovers her house is a mess after her son Imran (Ijaz Rana) threw a party which got out of hand, and she doesn’t yet know that some of the guests were selling drugs.
However, there could be some positivity in Misbah’s life as it’s implied she might have found romance during her time away.
She seems to shy away from revealing too much about her mystery phone calls, and even tries to pass them off as a "work mate".
Harvey added: "The call initially comes through when Misbah is with Imran, and she covers up, saying it’s a work mate.
"Misbah is slightly secretive, so Leela – who is within earshot – thinks there may be more to it.
"I don’t think Misbah is embarrassed, but she’s not quite ready to share yet."
