Hollyoaks’ Ayden Callaghan to wed next month

Hollyoaks’ Ayden Callaghan is getting married next month.
The 35-year-old actor and his fiancée Sarah-Jane Honeywell, who got engaged in 2014 at the top of the Empire State Building in New York, are to tie the knot in September.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Wednesday (03.07.16), the brunette beauty said: "We’re getting married next month."
The pair haven’t had the easiest relationship over the years as they tragically suffered a miscarriage in 2014.
However, the traumatic experience was made even worse by the fact that Ayden’s alter-ego Joe Roscoe and his girlfriend Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) were set to lose their baby on-screen around the same time Sarah-Jane fell pregnant with their child Phoenix, now 11 months.
Ayden explained: "I went for a meeting to talk about upcoming storylines and the boss told me about the development about Mercedes’ relationship and how she was pregnant from their tryst in France and unfortunately the pregnancy was going to end with a stillbirth.
"We’d already been through a miscarriage and things had been difficult. I carried on working through that."
But the news that Ayden was going to act out the stillborn scenes on television didn’t sit well with Sarah-Jane.
She explained: "It was horrific, I think I was a nightmare. I screamed at him and threw my phone and ran off. We also found out that he would be filming the stillbirth around the same time I was going to be giving birth to Phoenix."
Ayden made the difficult decision to ask bosses of ‘Hollyoaks’ if they could write him out of the storyline.
He said: "The best thing was to see if I could get removed, which was difficult … My professionalism is important to me and it’s really not the done thing to go to your boss and say, ‘I want to do this but I can’t do this.’ "
However, Ayden’s selfless move struck a chord with Sarah.
She explained: "As an actor, he would have done it but I think what makes him a great actor is that he had the humanity to see that he cared about me and Phoenix enough. I know that it nearly killed him to ask but he obviously cared about us and it’s ended beautifully."
