Heston Blumenthal has undergone a hip operation.
The celebrity chef, 48, has been suffering from severe pain over a number of years and recently decided to go under the knife to relieve his ailments.
He told The Sun newspaper: "I’ve got a new hip. I’m getting better, I mean really surprisingly quickly.
"I’m told the crutches are there for a reason – to slow you down."
Heston – who owns the Black Duck restaurant in Bray, Berkshire – is younger than most people who have hip ops, but explained that it became unavoidable due to various physical troubles.
He explained: "I broke my leg when I was nine when I fell off a roof. You are put into traction until your bones knit. My right leg got longer than the left one.
"I then did kickboxing for 15 years and the combination of that and going into the kitchen, I got a knackered back. I had a back operation and this is a hangover from all of that."
The chef, who has fronted shows like ‘Heston’s Fantastical Food’, recently appeared on ‘MasterChef Australia’.
