Heroes stars could return for reboot

The stars of ‘Heroes’ could return for the show’s new spin-off.

NBC confirmed plans to reboot the popular drama – which followed a group of people with extraordinary powers – in February, and it seems original stars such as Hayden Panettiere and Zachary Quinto could be invited back.

‘Heroes Reborn’, which will launch next year, will be a 13-episode series executive produced by ‘Heroes’ creator Tim Kring.

Speaking at NBC’s upfront presentation in New York this week, TV boss Bob Greenblatt said: "Some familiar faces from the show are bound to drop in.

"We have a big mini-series called ‘Heroes Reborn’, based on one of NBC’s strongest dramas in recent years. Its original creator Tim Kring will reboot the show.

"Plus, we’ll ramp into the show with an original online series prior to launch."

‘Heroes’ first launched in 2006 to critical acclaim in both the US and UK and made stars out of its cast, including blonde beauty Hayden, 24, who played indestructible cheerleader Claire Bennet.

The series was axed after four seasons in 2010 amid low ratings.

Original ‘Heroes’ star Masi Oka – who played Hiro Nakamura – has hinted he’d like to return to the show.

He wrote on Twitter: "Was watching the Olympics and saw the #HeroesReborn trailer. Time to dust off the sword?"
