Hermione Norris didn’t want to return to Cold Feet

Hermione Norris initially refused to return to ‘Cold Feet’.
The 49-year-old actress was concerned about "undoing" the good work they had on the show, which ran for five series between 1998 and 2003, with a new series but eventually the pull of her character, uptight former alcoholic divorcee Karen Marsden, was too much.
She said: "I didn’t want to undo anything we’d done – the series was so loved. If we made it, it had to be really good.
"But Karen is mine, you know? She’s mine."
Though Hermione has kept in touch with all her co-stars since the show ended, they still initially found it "weird" working together again.
She said: "It was weird when we met for the first read through but it was comfortable.
"Usually in those situations, you’ve never met anyone before and you have to set up the story, the characters. But in this case, the foundations had already been laid."
Helen Baxendale, whose character Rachel died in the last series, was missed during filming of the new episodes, but the cast understood why she didn’t want to return.
Hermione said: "It was like, ‘Where’s our Helen?’ But I totally respect why she didn’t want to do it. She didn’t want to be a ghost, or a voice."
There has been speculation of another series if the upcoming one does well but Hermione won’t mind if it doesn’t happen as she’s just so pleased she got to return to the show in the first place.
She told HELLO! magazine: "Even if it never goes again, I’m really glad to have done this and I’m pleased to have revisited this piece of work with these people."
