Helen Lederer has reportedly signed up to this summer’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ actress has snapped up an estimated £300,000 to take part in the forthcoming series of the reality TV show next month after bosses approached her about the gig because they were convinced the viewers would fall in love with her.
A source told The Sun Online: "Helen’s a great addition to this year’s line-up and is sure to be a big hit with fans. They offered her a big money deal that was hard to turn down and she’s looking forward to going into the house later this summer."
This isn’t the first time producers have eyed up for the programme as the 62-year-old star revealed last year that she was asked in 2009 but she was tied up elsewhere.
She said at the time: "They did ask me once before but I was doing Calendar Girls and I was quite pleased they wouldn’t let me out. How do people wash with their swimming costumes on? It’s disgusting. But I think in the Celebrity version at least you can close the door when you need a private moment."
Not much is known about the forthcoming series but it’s thought Helen will be joined by former ‘Gogglebox’ star Sandi Bogle.
An insider said previously: "Sandi will be great on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ – but it might take viewers a few days to get used to seeing her without Sandra.
"When she left the show last year it was because she wanted to pursue a music career, so being on the show will definitely help her boost her profile."
It was also rumoured that ‘X Factor’ reject Bradley Hunt – one half of Bratavio – had signed up to the competition but he’s since poured called water on that speculation.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "Nope, they’re just rumours I’, afraid but I’d never say never!"
