Hayley Tamaddon has hinted her ‘Coronation Street’ character "could come back one day".
The 41-year-old actress played Andrea Beckett on the ITV soap for two years before bowing out of the show in September 2015, and she is really keen to reprise her role because she has so many friends in Weatherfield.
She said: "She could come back one day, I’d like to see her come back. It feels like I’ve never really left because I’m best friends with so many of them there."
Hayley has joked the ‘Corrie’ bosses often wonder whether she has even departed the show because they have seen her in the pub on a number of occasions.
She explained: "When we go to the pub all directors walk in and go, ‘Have you actually left because we see you all the time?’
"The cast and the crew – what a wonderful bunch of people."
Andrea and her boyfriend Lloyd Mullaney (Craig Charles) departed Weatherfield for Jersey in the ‘Corrie’ live episode in September 2015 to celebrate ITV’s 60th anniversary, before briefly returning to say further goodbyes, and Hayley got emotional for real during the departure.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: "They were real tears, I didn’t want to go."
In 2015, Hayley admitted she was "devastated" to be leaving ‘Corrie’ because she is such a huge fan of the programme, but she was pleased about the storyline.
She said at the time: "I’m devastated. I don’t want to leave.
"It’s a really sad thing for me because I love the show so much but the story is going to be brilliant."
