Harry Reid recalls teary EastEnders exit

Harry Reid still gets teary thinking about his ‘EastEnders’ exit.
The 25-year-old actor bowed out of his role as Ben Mitchell in the BBC One soap in January, and he found it emotionally tough shooting his final scenes with his on-screen parents Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) and Gillian Taylforth (Kathy Beale)
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "There were a lot of tears. The last scene with Gillian was really hard.
"I threw myself into that part and emotionally really connected with her and Steve. It makes me a bit teary now talking about it."
Harry – who is now starring as Leonard Vole in Agatha Christie’s ‘Witness for the Prosecution’ – admitted it was particularly hard to film his exit scenes alongside Gillian because she felt so much like his real mum.
He added: "Gillian was the perfect person to play my mother. She’s very much like my mum, I don’t know how she did it?
"She’s so maternal, she’d just come in and touch my hand and hold my hand and I felt like my mum was holding my hand. That motherly touch."
The ‘K-Shop’ actor recently admitted he is grateful for landing his theatre role because the part has "freshened" up his acting.
He said: "It’s been a great change for me, really great. Freshened me up, taught me new skills. I’ll take these skills I’ve learnt here into TV, I won’t just disregard them.
"I took skills from ‘EastEnders’ into this."
‘Witness for the Prosecution’ runs at London’s County Hall.
