Harry Reid doesn’t know if EastEnders exit is for good

Harry Reid "doesn’t know" if his character Ben Mitchell is being killed off in ‘EastEnders’.
The 25-year-old actor will bow out of the long-running soap next month when his alter ego is caught up in an explosive storyline but, although there’s always a death the looms over the square over the festive period, he’s hoping his departure isn’t permanent because he’d love to return one day.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the Pride of Sport Awards, held at London’s Grosvenor House, last night (22.11.17), Harry said: "I don’t know whether I’m killed off or not but I’d love to come back if he’s alive. It’s been difficult filming the final scenes."
But, although he’s sad about closing the current chapter of his career, Harry is looking forward to what the future has in store for him and he hopes he can get stuck in to some theatre and drama.
He explained: "It’s really exciting for me and I’m looking forward to the future. I’ve got a few things on the horizon, there’s some talks going on and things we’re looking at.
"Who knows? I’m just looking at doing something different and a new project. I’m not going to put a rubber stamp on anything because, as an actor, you take what you’re given and I just want to work.
"I’d love to do some theatre but, at the same time, I’ve always wanted to do film. There are lots of really good dramas out at the moment so to get involved in one of those would be brilliant."
But not everyone is feeling so positive about Harry’s exit as his co-star Jamie Borthwick – who plays his on-screen brother Jay Brown on the soap – feels like his "right arm has been cut off."
He said: "We’ll definitely stay in touch – we’ll be best friends for life. I’m obviously very upset to see him go because I’ve kind of lost my right arm but hopefully, he might be back!"
