Harry Redknapp’s ‘long-term dream’ is EastEnders role

Harry Redknapp says his "long-term dream" is to land a role on ‘EastEnders’.

The 73-year-old football manager lives in Sandbanks in Dorset, south west England, but the east London-born star would love to go back to his roots by appearing on the BBC One soap.

He said: "I really want a part in ‘EastEnders’. That is my long-term dream."

Harry could see himself in the Queen Vic after losing all of his money and being forced to move back home.

Speaking on new podcast ‘The Reality of Reality TV’ with his former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ co-star Fleur East, he said: "I wanna be in the pub. And I can see it now. I’ve got it planned.

"They’re at the bar, they’re going, ‘Here, I hear Redknapp’s moved back into the Square, hasn’t he?

"Yeah, well, he’s gone skint or something? He lived down in Sandbanks. He must have done his dough.’

"And suddenly I’m in the pub. ‘Hello Harry, just talking about you, mate, yeah.’ And there I am, in ‘EastEnders’."

Harry – who was born in Poplar, east London – recently admitted he would even like a go at being the Queen Vic landlord.

He explained: "I’d be a nice guy. They could be at the bar having a drink and say, ‘Redknapp’s come back to his roots, back to the East End of London. He’s had enough of that Sandbanks.’ "

Doing an impression of his ‘EastEnders’ alter-ego, Harry said: "Alright lads, finish drinking, drink up quickly, we’re closing. The police are outside, the licence is 11 o’clock finish. Everybody out."

‘The Reality of Reality TV with Fleur East’ is available every Tuesday from Apple podcasts, Spotify, the Hits Radio website and all mainstream podcast providers.
