Harry Redknapp can’t tell Ant and Dec apart

Harry Redknapp cannot remember if Ant McPartlin or Declan Donnelly hosted his series of ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’.

The 73-year-old football manager still cannot tell the two TV presenters apart, despite being crowned King of the Jungle in 2018 when Holly Willoughby filled in for Ant alongside Dec.

Speaking to former campmate Fleur East on her ‘Reality Of Reality TV’ podcast, he recalled: "One of you said, ‘Well, tomorrow Holly’s gonna come in with… ’ Who was it, Ant or Dec? I can’t remember who it was."

When Fleur told him it was Dec, Harry said: "Dec? Was it really? If you’d said, ‘Have a £100 bet’, I’d have said Ant."

Harry admitted the only reason he took part in the show was because he received "loads of money", and he expected to be voted out of the jungle within a few days.

He said: "Because they paid me loads of money, Fleur. I can’t think of any other reason. It’s no good me sitting here going, well I wanted to meet these, you know … It wasn’t.

"They [the producers] went, we’ll give you this, and it kept going up and, in the end, I went yeah, go on then.

"She [Harry’s wife Sandra] said, ‘You’ve got to watch it. You don’t know what you’re doing.’

"I said, ‘Look, they said people ring up and they vote you out.’

"I said, ‘Well, I could be out in two days. We can have a holiday in Australia, they’re paying me all this money, we go and have a lovely holiday.’

"I didn’t know the voting didn’t start until about 12 days in. That was the biggest shock I had."

This year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity’ series is to be filmed in North Wales due to the travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic preventing contestants flying to Australia.

The stars and presenters Ant and Dec will be heading to a castle ruin, and a contestant will be crowned King or Queen of the Castle, rather than King or Queen of the Jungle. ‘The Reality of Reality TV with Fleur East’ is available every Tuesday from Apple podcasts, Spotify, the Hits Radio website and all mainstream podcast providers.
